Bringing Light to Papua: TNI Habema Expands Solar Energy Access in Krepkuri District

PUNCAK - In a groundbreaking initiative to enhance community welfare, the Infantry Battalion Task Force (Satgas Yonif) Raider 503/Mayangkara, under the HABEMA Operations Command, has expanded solar-powered lighting access for residents in Krepkuri District, Nduga Regency, Papua. This effort, part of the ongoing RI-PNG Mobile Border Security Operation in Central Papua, saw the installation of 25 additional solar cell lamps on Monday (2/13/2025).

Recognizing the challenges faced by remote communities with limited electricity access, the TNI Habema soldiers have made lighting expansion a priority. Previously, Kesatria Mayangkara had successfully installed 50 solar lamps along the main road from Batas Batu to Kenyam. Now, with the latest installment, even more residents in Krepkuri can enjoy safer and brighter nights.

The positive impact of this initiative is already being felt. Village Head Daniel Menjeh expressed his gratitude, stating, "Thank you, Mr. TNI 503, for gradually bringing light to our village." With better lighting, nighttime activities have become more comfortable, and children can now play safely after dark.

Lieutenant Colonel Inf Gurbasa Samosir, Commander of Task Force Yonif 503/Mayangkara, extended his appreciation to Kesatria Mayangkara at the Batas Batu Post for their dedication to making this project a reality. "We hope the presence of these solar lamps will continue to benefit the wider community, especially in Krepkuri District, " he remarked.
