YAHUKIMO - The echoes of children's laughter filled the air in Yahukimo Regency, Central Papua, as the Task Force Infantry Battalion (Satgas Yonif) 6 Marines, part of the HABEMA Operations Command, engaged in a heartwarming community outreach. In the midst of their RI-PNG Mobile Border Security Operation, these dedicated Marines took time to share joy with the local children, distributing snacks and fostering strong social bonds.
On Friday (14/2/2025), Task Force Yonif 6 Marines conducted a social communication (Komsos) program, a meaningful initiative designed to build unity and a sense of family with the Papuan community, especially with the younger generation.
"Through activities like this, we want Papuan children to feel our presence not just as soldiers, but as part of their extended family, " said Lieutenant Colonel Rismanto Manurung, S.M., M.Tr. Opsla., CTMP, Commander of Task Force Yonif 6 Marines.
He further emphasized that such interactions would be a regular part of the task force’s mission, reinforcing the spirit of togetherness and strengthening bonds between TNI personnel and local residents.
"By connecting with the children through simple yet meaningful activities, we hope to foster a deeper sense of unity and harmony between the Marines and the Papuan community. Our presence here must leave a lasting, positive impact, " he added.
The sight of uniformed Marines laughing and playing with the children created a touching moment, showcasing TNI’s humanistic approach in Papua. Beyond security, they aim to be part of the community’s daily life, ensuring a sense of peace, trust, and support.
The children of Yahukimo enthusiastically embraced the soldiers’ presence, eagerly enjoying the treats and engaging in joyful interactions. These small moments symbolize a greater mission—proving that TNI is not only here to ensure stability but to actively contribute to Papua’s social and emotional well-being.
By prioritizing empathy and engagement, Task Force Yonif 6 Marines continues to play a crucial role in maintaining security, harmony, and unity in Papua. Their efforts contribute to a peaceful, prosperous, and connected community—a mission that extends beyond military duty.
"This initiative by the 6th Marine Infantry Battalion Task Force reflects the Indonesian Military’s commitment to serving the people, ensuring that development efforts in Papua are supported not only through security but also through compassion and community engagement, " said HABEMA Commander, Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, after receiving the mission report.
With dedication and care, TNI remains steadfast in its goal of building a stronger, united, and thriving Papua.
