INTAN JAYA - In a heartfelt initiative to support the well-being of Papua’s younger generation, the Infantry Battalion Task Force (Satgas Yonif) 509 Kostrad, under the HABEMA Operations Command, continues to make a real difference. Operating as part of the RI-PNG Mobile Border Security Operation, the TNI Task Force, along with SubSatgaster Yonif 754 Kostrad, Satgas Banmin Koops Habema, and Koramil Sugapa, is ensuring that children in remote areas of Intan Jaya, Central Papua Province, receive free nutritious meals every school day.
This program, aligned with the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s mission to improve child nutrition, has been running smoothly despite challenges in the region. Every school day, soldiers deliver fresh, healthy meals directly to students, providing rice, nutritious side dishes, vegetables, fruits, milk, and biscuits to support their growth and learning.
Lieutenant Colonel Inf Dian D. Setyadi, Commander of Satgas Yonif 509 Kostrad, emphasized that this initiative reflects TNI’s deep commitment to the welfare of the community, particularly the younger generation.
“We recognize that access to nutritious food remains a challenge in several areas. That’s why we are here—to ensure that children in Intan Jaya receive the nutrition they need to stay healthy and succeed in their education, ” he stated.
Beyond fulfilling basic needs, this initiative also strengthens the bond between the TNI and local communities. Lieutenant Chk Irawan Suharto, Pasiter Satgas Yonif 509 Kostrad, expressed the program’s broader significance:
“We want people to know that the TNI is here not only to maintain security but also to support the well-being of the nation’s future leaders. These children represent the bright future of Papua and Indonesia, ” he said.
The enthusiasm among the students was evident as they excitedly received their meals from the soldiers. A teacher from one of the participating schools expressed deep appreciation for the initiative:
“Many of our students often come to school on an empty stomach. This program has been a tremendous help, ensuring they have the energy to focus and learn. We are truly grateful for the kindness of the TNI, ” he shared.
This initiative will continue as a daily school program, reinforcing TNI’s synergy with the government in efforts to enhance community welfare. By providing nutritious meals to schoolchildren, the program aims to nurture healthier, smarter, and more resilient future generations in Intan Jaya.
Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, Commander of HABEMA Operations, reaffirmed the significance of this program in his statement:
“The Yonif 509 Kostrad Task Force’s initiative to distribute free nutritious meals to school children is a tangible demonstration of TNI’s dedication to serving the fundamental needs of the people. It directly contributes to accelerating Papua’s development and fostering a healthier, more prosperous community, ” he said.
Through continued dedication and collaboration, TNI Koops Habema remains steadfast in its mission—not just to safeguard the region, but to uplift the lives of its people, one meal at a time.
